Happy Autumn love birds everywhere! (Although its feeling less and less like fall and more and more like winter here in the Boston area) With the start of the holiday season, it’s hard to believe that 2013 is already winding to a close. However, “engagement season” is only beginning to shift into high gear! According to the folks at WeddingWire.com, a whopping 43% of couple become engaged between November and January alone! In fact the 2d, 3d, and 4th most popular holidays to pop the question on are Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve (in that order. You can probably guess what the #1 most popular engagement holiday is, but I’ll give you a clue, it takes place in February…)

The holiday season is so popular for proposals because typically it’s the time of year that families and loved ones come together. Whether you want to pop the question with all of your nearest and dearest surrounding you as it happens, or whether you prefer a private proposal followed up by a group celebration, you can almost guarantee that the people you want to share your good news with will be together for the holidays. Plus, there’s just something about the holidays that carries a little more magic than any other time during the year. Maybe it’s the swirling autumn leaves, the crispness in the air, the first gentle snowflakes that dance as they fall from the sky, the warm smell of smoke as people begin to use their fireplaces again, or all of the stories and holiday songs that whisper of the supernatural. There’s just something about this period that makes it just a little more special, and a little more poignant than the other 10 months of the year. Proposals are things that live on as magical moments in our lives, even decades after they’ve taken place. It just seems fitting that such a magical event would happen during such a magical time of year.
